Ayse Birsel, Designer, Creative Director, Teacher, Speaker and Author of Design the Life You Love, goes on world wind tour wearing Anni Kuan.
Design the Life You Love, Ayse shares her tools to help you see things from fresh perspectives—which often is where new ideas start to emerge. She uses metaphors to help you think about your viewpoint on life, playfully, and connects you to inspiration through your heroes and role models to help you align yourself with your values and beliefs. All this, fueled by the spirit of design, nourishes your right brain, intuition and imagination.

Anni’s Cocoon Coat was recently featured wrapping the frame of this lithe model in a photo shoot for NYC-based fashion photographer Keith Greenbaum. Shot on a breezy city rooftop, the model stayed warm thanks to the quilted lining of the Cocoon Coat.
These are quite possible the most amazing linen pants I’ve ever tried on. No. joke. Comfortable, great fit, superbly versatile and so perfectly summer-y. Anni Kuan is ta new-to-me designer based out of my favorite city, New York, and her pieces are designed for the woman on the go – the gal that wants to be comfortable yet stylish. I wore these babies out for dinner at Delmonico’s in Southampton and I just know I’ll be wearing a whole lot more in the coming months. Check out her entire collection here and fall in love as much as I did. p.s. Please excuse the picture quality. I’m just now starting to play around with camera settings, lighting, exposure, and all those photography details I have SO much to learn about!

I was so excited when we made our first sale on the spanking new website!
Ayse Birsel received this love package in NYC from her husband Bibi as a surprise gift. Here she is opening the package. Yay!
The lovely Ayse will be sporting this Rappu dress on her travel to Istanbul. The soft jersey material makes it easy to pack and the perfect travel companion (after Bibi, of course). I was thrilled to get a picture of Ayse modeling the dress—she looks delicious!
Lots of amazing guests, and plenty of bubbly helped ring in the arrival of spring and celebrate the new Anni Kuan Design web site!
Music by McBeats kept the tempo upbeat with his signature Celtic flair and who could resist trying on a few—or more than a few—new looks from the S/S 2014 Collection. It was a candle lit event, and we snacked on Italian cheese and crackers, Spanish marcona almonds and Thai lime chili cashews. Yum! And of course, we drank lots of cava and lambrusco. After all the intense work that went into the site, I was soooo happy to celebrate and more then pleased to see all the smiling faces, thank you for making my dream come true!!!
“I LOVE MY DESIGNS,” Anni Kuan said the other day, her exuberance as unforced as her curve-grazing dresses, cocoon coats and boot-cut pants that lend a touch of raciness to her otherwise low-key designs. If Ms. Kuan is feeling on top of her game, she has reason. Among her fans is Chirlane McCray, New York City’s first-lady-to-be and, for the designer, a reliable muse.
“When I’m looking at fabrics or at shapes, I think, ‘Oh, would that look good on Chirlane?’ ” she said. “If I can focus on her, it helps me gather my thoughts.” Lately that process has picked up steam. “For the inauguration, we have a week and a half to fit some dresses and a coat for her,” Ms. Kuan recalled, her words tumbling out in a giddy cascade. “It is a big deal for us.”
If Ms. McCray wears one of Ms. Kuan’s designs when Bill de Blasio becomes mayor on Jan. 1, it will be a crowning moment in a nearly decade-long relationship that has endured since Ms. McCray discovered Ms. Kuan’s minimally embellished, youthful-looking pieces at Otto in Park Slope, in Brooklyn, where she shops.
